For more information, please visit www.are.com .We are seeking a dynamic individual who will support the Senior Manager - Accounting & Compensation with stock compensation and payroll functions. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to communicate effectively with personnel at all levels. The Accounting & Compensation - Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the day-day functions of stock compensation and payroll administration which includes hands on management of our Company stock incentive plan. In addition, they will be responsible for implementing quality control measures to ensure accuracy of reporting and compliance within the payroll/stock compensation areas. The ideal candidate must have the ability to handle confidential information in a discretionary fashion and must be able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.The Company is an equal opportunity employer. We are pleased to consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, creed, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding or related medical conditions, marital status, registered domestic partner status, family-care status, veteran status, military status, age, national origin or ancestry, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, sexual orientation, or any other category protected by applicable federal, state or local law or ordinance.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesWill employ a number of duties in the areas of supervising and managing the accounting, compliance, and administration of payroll and stock compensation, as well as providing project support, including but not limited to the following:Accounting And Financial ReportingManage and review day-to-day accounting relating to payroll and stock compensation such as: Review journal entries for bi-weekly payroll, payroll taxes, and benefits for month-end close Review journal entries for employee equity compensation related entries in accordance to GAAP Reconciliation schedules of general ledger accounts to ADP payroll and Fidelity equity compensation records Prepare basic and diluted weighted average share calculations for the purpose of calculating earnings per share Prepare capitalized payroll calculations, including coordination of timesheet collection and preparation of quarterly calculation package for management review Assist with technical accounting research relating to payroll and equity compensation accounting Assist with coordination of external and internal audit requests Assist with ad-hoc requests and special projects such as process improvement projects and new payroll or stock compensation related software implementation Assist with preparation/review of various calculations or analytics relating to the financial reporting of payroll and stock compensation such as: Payroll and stock compensation expense fluctuation analysis for internal quarterly reporting schedules Capitalized payroll and stock compensation-related analytics for 10Q/10K Company disclosures Stock related activity for Form 4 filing Deferred compensation calculations for Form D filing Payroll and stock compensation data compilation for the Company's Proxy SEC filing relating to Executive Compensation tables and SEC Pay Ratio calculation Stock Administration Manage and review day-to-day administration of the employee's stock grants, including, but not limited to: Coordinate with Executive Management, outside legal counsel, stock plan system administrator, and transfer agent for stock issuance to employees Track the timing of stock vesting, including the timing of tax withholding elections, reviewing tax withholding calculations, and managing the stock tax net settlement process Maintain stock participant listing and grant data for the employee stock plan Coordinate the Company's stock trading window, including tracking the trading approvals, communications with employees' brokers, and working with Financial Reporting team to ensure accurate and timely disclosures of our public filings Assist with compliance research relating to equity compliance rules and regulations Payroll And Benefits Administration Manage and review day-to-day administration of the employee payroll and benefits, including, but not limited to: Review bi-weekly payroll inputs and prepare bi-weekly payroll funding and variance analysis Perform periodic internal audits of various payroll areas and prepares materials for external and internal auditors Act as a liaison to assist the employees with payroll related inquiries such as overtime hours, leave of absence, and tax withholdings Manage the administration of the employee benefit plans, including deferred compensation plan and cash balance plan Manage the annual budgeting process of property management payroll allocation Assist with compliance research relating to payroll compliance rules and regulations including federal and applicable state/local compliance rules. This includes tracking on-going compliance updates to stay up-to-date with recent changes in regulations affecting payroll and compensation matters and communicating/calculating impact to such changes to executive management Supervisor/Administrative Responsibilities Directly supervise staff employees and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities include: General oversight of accounting staff employees Interview, hire, and coach staff employees on career development Train staff employees on areas such as technical accounting concepts and soft skills Plan, assign and direct work, and appraise performance Address concerns and solve problems Qualifications And Experience Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field is required Minimum of 5+ years of accounting experience Compensation accounting related accounting experience is required CPA, CPP, CCP is highly desired Public accounting experience is highly desired Must have experience with researching compliance rules and regulations Prior experience with ADP Workforce Now and timekeeping system or stock administration system is highly desirable Proficient in business related software: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint JD Edwards Accounting software experience desirable Exceptional verbal and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. This position must be able to effectively communicate with senior management Must be able to handle extremely confidential information in an expeditious and discretionary fashion Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize and meet deadlines Ability to lead, mentor, and develop staff Attention to detail a must
