PositionDirector of Operations - Wescom Financial Services LocationWescom Credit Union - Pasadena, CA Full-Time/Part-TimeFull-Time Description POSITION TITLE: Director of Operations DEPARTMENT: Wescom Financial Services REPORTS TO: SVP, Financial Services POSITION SUMMARY: The Wescom Financial Services (WFS) Director of Operations is responsible for the overall coordination and management of the brokerage back office operations and administration. Responsibilities include directing operations personnel in the day-to-day functions supporting transaction processing, sponsor paperwork, qualified plans, insurance products, annuity products, mutual fund products and individual equity & bond areas. This position acts as operations liaison with WFS' third party marketing company, clearing firm and other business parters to ensure that WFS achieves operational/administrative efficiencies. This position oversees Investment Services as well as the Sales Assistants. Position Requirements ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS: Ensures that all policies and procedures are aligned with corporate goals and initiatives and comply with regulatory guidelines. Develops and oversees the implementation and maintenance of the organization's policies, standards and practices and integrates industry-mandated initiatives. Ensures effective communication throughout the organization. Continually evaluates the effectiveness of the accounting, member service, operations and compliance areas. Solicits and reviews feedback from WFS team members and recommends changes to internal policies and procedures when appropriate. Participates in the coordination of budgets, resources and deadlines to ensure timely completion for projects. Represents the organization to external industry groups and participates in a variety of internal committees. Ensures that opportunities are afforded to staff to develop and maintain their skills at the highest standards. Fosters, through mentoring and leadership, critical and independent thinking skills and behaviors. Ensures that staff is developed and utilized as a resource pool for other areas of the organization. Exercises authority concerning hiring, performance management, reviews, promotions, salary decisions and terminations. Directs responses to inquiries made on the Internet trading website, including maintenance of appropriate filings with WFS Compliance. Coordinates creation/updating of new forms for broker/dealer in conjunction with CFS and Wescom. Serves as a primary contact with other Wescom departments to support WFS' goals and objectives. Responsible for the development of operational and activity reports incuding branch investments, MSRIII activity and management reports. Oversees research of any trade discrepancies or cash discrepancies and coordinates with the WFS/Wescom Accounting Department for resolution. Oversees the interface between WFS and Wescom's Accounting Department to ensure accurate revenue and expense reporting. Oversees the commission calculation process and reporting. Performs other duties as assigned. COMMITTEE PARTICIPATION: Member of Management Team: Joins with all members of management to review and address member service delivery and related functions, operational policies, employee issues, quality control problems, planning items, and other Wescom activities. The position is eligible for the Credit Union's Management Team Incentive Program and Team Award. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ten to fifteen years of brokerage firm (broker/dealer) experience with a minimum of seven years of investment operations experience in the financial services industry. Minimum of five years of supervisory experience Working understanding of FINRA, SEC and State regulations governing securities and insurance Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience FINRA Series Licenses: 7, 24, 53 or 9, 10 and 66/65 Life & Health License and Variable Annuity Insurance License preferred Good understanding of annuities, mutual funds, insurance, equity and fixed income, structured products and Advisory Services. Knowledge of multiple clearing systems, e.g., Pershing Superior problem solving, analytical and research skills, as well as the ability to spot underlying patterns Ability to prioritize work schedule and meet deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication skills COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must be proficient in technology applications including the Credit Union's operating system and specialized software required for performance of position. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop kneel, crouch, crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
