Job Description:
Purpose of Position: Assists with patient check-in and check out
Supervision received: Office Manager Supervision exercised: None
Physical Demands: Requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping,
and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual
dexterity. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Lifts
with assistance and positions patients in the appropriate positions
for office procedures. Requires normal range of hearing and
eyesight. Must be able to operate all related equipment. Working
Conditions: Work is performed in a medical office environment,
which can frequently be demanding. Involves frequent telephone and
face-to-face contact with patients. Interaction with others is
constant and interruptive. Examples of Duties: Greets patients as
they enter the office in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
As needed-checks patients in, verifying appointments, insurance,
demographic information, and updates into the practice management
system as needed. As needed collects any fees due by the patient at
the time of check-in or check out As needed balances payments
received on a daily basis without error Receives and processes
medical record requests per company procedure policy and Datafied
Receives and processes company faxes. Calls/Fax prescriptions as
instructed by physicians, Prepares daily worksheets for physicians.
Reviews and manages On-call changes per physician request. Assists
other front office receptionists and telephone room with the
day-to-day workflow. Scheduled patients appointments according to
practice guidelines Follows HIPAA guidelines in accordance with our
office policy. Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
Assists patients to their vehicles as directed by physician or
supervisor. Phones: Answers telephone, screens calls, takes
messages, and provides information within the scope of knowledge.
Transfers call to appropriate extensions. Answers patient calls and
schedules them with the appropriate physician and or department
accommodating their personal needs and requirements. Maintains
knowledge of the contracted insurance carriers and HMO products
that CMA maintains business relationships. Answers and makes every
attempt to answer adjuster---s questions regarding workers'
compensation cases/claims. Answers patient---s calls regarding
their appointments, work status, and insurance. Transfers phone
lines to exchange at the end of each day. Receives and completes
requests for patient medical records, acts as the liaison between
COA and Datafied Prepares daily worksheets/charge tickets for
physicians Assists front desk staff with their day-to-day workflow.
Process Improvement: Meets regularly with Office Manager to achieve
continuous improvement for an efficient and effective medical
practice. Attends required meetings and participates in
professional development activities. Work Area: Maintains a
professional and quiet workplace Reports equipment malfunctions
immediately to the Office Manager Makes the necessary arrangements
for repairs and/or maintenance at the direction of the Office
Manager. Maintains examination rooms in a neat and orderly fashion.
Stocks necessary medical supplies. Education & Experience: High
School Graduate or equivalent education/experience. Knowledge of
medical practice and terminology helpful. Knowledge of a second
language helpful. Medical Assistant certification Work Aptitudes:
Ability to accept direction and assume responsibility Ability to
set priorities in front of multiple requests Ability to analyze
problems and follow through with solutions Accountabilities:
