Responsible for providing services to the Cardiothoracic patient in a variety of settings. In coordination with a supervising physician and within scope of practice defined by the Board of Physician Assistants performs History and Physicals, orders and interprets diagnostic and laboratory tests, prescribes medication and assists in the operating room. Collaborates with all clinical staff assuring compliance with core measures, SCIP and other hospital quality indicators and processes. This position may require flexibility of hours. Education: Master's prepared Physician's Assistant preferred. Experience/Training: 2 years experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery. Endovascular vein harvesting experience required. Licenses/Certifications: Current California licensure as a Physician's Assistant. Practitioner with prescriptive authority. Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS provider required. Must be enrolled in the Medicare program for services furnished to Medicare beneficiaries (CMS - 8550) required. Skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills, Excellent organizational skills, able to establish work priorities with attention to detail, Flexible and demonstrated ability to multitask.
