Learn more about the Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine at schoolofmedicine.kp.org.Provides leadership and facilitation in the resolution of highly strategic and sensitive issues or projects of schoolwide, regional, statewide, cross-entity, or cross-functional scope and reports directly to the Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine Dean and CEO. The incumbent acts as an advisor and thought partner by leading teams to identify, track, and measure issues, project plans, and associated risks for resolution and consolidation, providing expert-level consulting capabilities to the functional area to realize the Dean and CEO's strategic objectives. Directs all aspects of KPSOM Board of Directors relations and board services and support activities and serves as a liaison between the KPSOM Board Chair and the Dean and CEO. Leads teams to gather data, researching and consolidating issues, summarizing information, and making recommendations with relevant stakeholders to advance the KPSOM Dean and CEO's agenda. Incumbent routinely and proactively represents the Dean and CEO's positions in meetings and committees and in developing integrated functional projects, communication plans, and scorecards to measure effectiveness of initiatives (within established parameters). On behalf of the Dean and CEO, manages functional area operations including KPSOM Board Services, policy development for the KPSOM, and strategic planning.Essential Responsibilities:Executive Consultation and Leadership: Acts as an advisor or thought partner by structuring undefined issues for resolution, researching issues, summarizing information, and working with relevant stakeholders to provide the executive with the information needed to make sound decisions. Routinely represents the executive's point of view and proactively makes decisions on the Dean's behalf (within established parameters). Partners with a variety of individuals from the KPSOM, other entities, other regions, and national program on behalf of the Dean and CEO on projects or on issues that require resolution. KPSOM Board of Directors: Directs all aspects of KPSOM Board relations, services, committee work, and support.Partners with direct reports of the Dean and CEO to achieve functional area and organizational objectives. Independently leads and/or facilitates the achievement of organizational goals and objectives on behalf of the Dean and CEO.Acts as a communication liaison between the office and direct reports and others by providing advice and speaking for the executive. Assists and advises direct reports and others to ensure their recommendations and reports to senior executives are coordinated across the organization and thoroughly crafted.Supports the planning, management, and execution of key business processes associated with management of the applicable functional area, including but not limited to performance management, strategic planning, communications, and tactical initiatives. Applies process improvement methods and tools to improve and/or redesign organizational business processes.Prepares formal presentations for the executive as well as papers and public statements. Leads and/or participates on high priority projects for the Dean and CEO. Leads large projects or oversees regional programs such as complex improvement projects to identify and resolve issues of strategic importance.Provides leadership and expert consultation on the design, development, and implementation of policies and programs. Manages the KPSOM Policy Library.Other duties as assigned.Basic Qualifications:ExperienceMinimum ten (10) years of experience in consulting, operations, or project management.Minimum of five (5) years of management experience.EducationBachelor's degree in related fieldLicense, Certification, RegistrationN/AAdditional Requirements:Demonstrated extensive experience in a Chief of Staff role or a similar role,Experience with business process improvement and the tools and data requirements for supporting an effective business process improvement project.Demonstrated ability to determine key business issues and develop appropriate action plans from multidisciplinary perspectives.Demonstrated performance in strategic/operational analysis and planning, analytical techniques, and financial and market assessments.Proven leadership skills in project management and consulting. Must exhibit efficiency, collaboration, candor, openness, and be results oriented.Ability to exercise good judgment and political astuteness.Superior communication, consulting, facilitation, negotiation, conflict management, problem resolution, change management skills, and consensus building skills.Ability to adapt to constantly changing priorities in managing a wide range of projects.Demonstrated ability to structure, drive, and execute complex multi-disciplinary issues to closure with minimal direction.Proven ability to effectively manage in ambiguous situations with minimal direction.Proficient in team building, conflict resolution, group interaction, project management, and budget management.Demonstrated ability to lead professionals and manage others through influence and collaboration.Outstanding written and oral communication skills required.Expert knowledge (broad expertise or unique knowledge) of policies, practices, and systems.Develops advanced concepts, techniques, and standards.Develops new applications based on professional principles and theories.Applies complex principles, theories, and concepts.Contributes to the development of innovative principles and ideas.Preferred Qualifications:Minimum ten (10) years of experience in consulting, operations or project management in an academic setting.Demonstrated experience working with Boards.Master's degree.KPcareers.org/schoolofmedicinejobsPrimary Location: California,Pasadena,S.
