Participate in the total patient care in the ambulatory setting,
recognizing normalnand abnormal signs and symptoms and life
threatening emergencies. Act as anstaff person in the office,
assisting in patient care, and maintain highnstandards of care in
the community offices.Qualifications
Required: Ability tontravel to Westwood/LAX locations for mandatory
2 or 4-week training upon hire.nKnowledge of normal and abnormal
symptomatology and life threatening medicalnproblems. Current and
valid CPR certification with ability to administer CPR.nAbility to
skillfully administer oral, IM and subcutaneous medications.
Abilitynto obtain accurate vital signs and drug refills. Ability to
assist in medicalnemergencies and office procedures. Knowledge of
medical terminology.nInterpersonal skills to interact with
patients, families, ancillaryndepartments, physicians and
co-workers in a courteous and compassionate manner.nVerbal skills
to effectively convey sensitive information in a courteous
mannernin person or on the telephone. Skill to accurately perform a
12-lead EKG.nAbility to assist in orientation of new staff. Ability
to order medical andnclinical supplies and maintain adequate
inventory. Ability to follow propernchannels of policies &
procedures, communication & work standards.nAbility to organize
tasks to facilitate smooth work/patient flow. Ability to
benflexible in working both back and front office to facilitate
smooth workflow.nKnowledge and ability to set up and assist
physician with any procedures suchnas, but not limited to
audiometry, spirometry, O2 saturation levels, skin tagnand mole
removals, ear lavage, colposcopies, flexible sigmoidscopies.
Abilitynto perform accurate quality control and patient sample
testing for waivedntests. Knowledge of all safety requirements when
handling Biohazardousnspecimens or contaminated instruments.
Knowledge of MSDS and emergencyntreatments. Ability to work
overtime in cases of emergency. Ability to benpunctual and maintain
a satisfactory attendance record. Skill in maintaining anharmonious
work atmosphere, practicing excellent customer service. A
medicalnassistant diploma/certificate from a secondary,
post-secondary, or adultneducation program in a public school
authorized by the Dept. of Education, in ancommunity college
program provided for in the Education Code, or a
post-secondaryninstitution accredited or approved by the Bureau of
Post-secondary andnVocational Education in the Dept. of Consumer
Affairs. Ability to push, pull orncarry 30 lbs or more.
Demonstrated completion of ten clock hours of training
innadministering injections and performing skin tests, and/or ten
clock hours ofntraining in venipuncture and skin puncture for the
purpose of withdrawingnblood, and satisfactory performance by the
trainee of at least ten each ofnintramuscular, subcutaneous, and
intradermal injections and ten skin tests,nand/or at least ten
venipuncture and ten skin procedures.
Preferred: Ability tonuse computerized patient care systems.
Ability to schedule patient appointmentsnand encounter patients
using CareConnect. Knowledge to schedule patient fornreferrals to
specialists. Certified phlebotomy technician license.
Venipuncturenand/or phlebotomy certification.
