Job Description:

The Senior Software Engineer (Desktop Applications) will be responsible for implementing desktop applications (GUI) for both internal and external customers. This will primarily support a desktop application used to stream, monitor, and save data that is sent from a number of sensors. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in software development (object-oriented, data structures, GUI, networking) and experience in designing and implementing graphical user interfaces that are intuitive and robust. Experience in developing on .NET platforms (WinForms, WPF) and on Python GUI libraries (Qt, wxPython) is a major advantage. Experience in working with DevExpress is also highly appreciated.

Major Responsibilities

• This list is not all inclusive. Additional duties will be assigned as needed.
  

• Design, implement, and provide support for a Windows-based Graphical User Interface application to support collecting and analysing sensor data.
• Extract requirements and lead agile project management meetings with the sensor development team to plan out tasks and sprints for collection and analysis of data.
• Support other desktop application GUIs in Python, such as our automation and analysis GUI and the Data Warehousing Navigator (DAWn) - a tool to download, visualize, and analyse data in cloud.
• Write unit test suites and GUI automated tests based on Selenium and other user interface automation tools. Setup a CI pipeline for regression testing and perform QA on major releases.
  
  Education & Experience
  
  • BA degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of working industry experience (3 for MSc)
  • Minimum 3 year of experience in C# or Python
  • Minimum 3 years' experience developing WinForms, WPF, Qt, or wxPython (preferred to have experience in all)
  • Highly desirable to have experience in DevExpress
  • Strong knowledge in object-oriented paradigm, MVC/MVVM/MVP patterns, functional programming, and software engineering patterns. Must also be familiar and comfortable with agile methodology and documenting software.
  • Has experience in extracting software requirements and building scalable software frameworks and platforms
  • Good communication skills, self-learner, independent, responsible, dedicated, and motivated.
