Job Description Job Description Cogen Superintendent - Paper Manufacturing Location: Oxnard, CA A leading paper product manufacturing company is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Cogen Superintendent to oversee cogeneration operations at its Oxnard mill. This is a full-time, Monday-Friday role offering the opportunity to lead critical energy operations in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Overview: The Cogen Superintendent will plan, organize, and direct the operation of cogeneration systems, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency. This position reports directly to the Maintenance/Engineering Manager and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities Ensure safe and efficient operation of the cogeneration boiler, backup power boiler, and mill air systems. Maintain compliance with all safety and environmental programs. Manage operating budgets and financial performance of the operation. Develop and implement long-term capital and strategic improvement plans. Lead and develop direct reports and union employees toward a self-directed, reliability-focused organization. Communicate business strategy, goals, and initiatives effectively to team members. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Pulp & Paper Engineering. Minimum 10 years of experience leading power and turbine generator operations. Expertise in managing outages, shutdowns, and start-ups of cogeneration equipment. Strong leadership skills in a union environment with proven ability to drive organizational change. Proficiency in MS Office and analytical tools like PI Processbook. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Work Environment Large manufacturing facility operating 24/7. Exposure to loud noise, heat, humidity, and mechanical equipment. PPE required: hard hat, steel-toed boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
