Maxar is currently seeking a GNC Propulsion Engineer to join our team in Palo Alto, CA or Pasadena, CA. In this role, you will provide propulsion production support on the most powerful multi-mission spacecraft in the world! You will take ownership of the propulsion subsystem and be responsible for all operations from build, assembly, spacecraft integration, test, and launch base.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate production engineering processes on a daily basis to produce high-quality products

  • Translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into fully functional hardware

  • Define how to prepare hardware for test, qualification, and flight

  • Coordinate with cross-functional groups, program office, and customers to achieve milestones in critical operations and ensure mission success

  • Collaborate with other propulsion engineers during program design phases to generate optimal system configurations

  • Identify, develop, and deploy new manufacturing methods (or refine existing) to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build schedule

  • Develop process improvements to effectively utilize equipment and materials to maximize production

  • Identify unsafe operations and practices and report the same to manager immediately

  • Provide engineering support for production and manufacturing activities to ensure maximum production

  • Perform engineering analysis to reduce downtime

  • Evaluate current production activities and make recommendations for improvements

  • Implement cost reduction initiatives while maintaining high-quality standards

  • Develop operating instructions and equipment specifications for production activities

  • Provides training and guidance to team members to accomplish production goals

  • Stay current with product specifications, engineering technology and production processes

  • Develop best practices to improve production capacity, quality and reliability

  • Investigate problems, analyze root causes and derive resolutions

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, other engineering, science, or a related field. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree

  • 5 years of related experience

  • Experience with the design, manufacturing, and test of spacecraft propulsion systems

  • Experience with quality control and statistical analysis

  • Experience related to lean manufacturing

  • Ability to perform inspections in confined areas

  • Extensive experience with the MS Office Suite; Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook

  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems, CREO, Matlab, Java, and/or HTML

  • Experience with CAD software, preferably CREO.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in aerospace engineering or related field

  • Strong written, personal, and computer skills. Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at the executive leadership level and on the shop floor

  • Experience working in a manufacturing, construction, or machine shop environment

  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma processes and implementation

  • Aerospace/Launch vehicle experience

  • Experience with safety critical systems
