The Corporate BDS group is highly respected within the organization and works collaboratively with operations teams in geographically dispersed locations worldwide. Our team helps operations managers and technical experts develop best-in-class proposals, presentations, and other marketing collateral while meeting client-driven deadlines in a dynamic environment.

We are currently seeking a talented individual interested in pursuing careers in business development or marketing for a technical federal consulting firm. This unique program was designed to enhance BD leadership skills in a fast-paced consulting environment. The selected individual will gain diverse foundational experience and develop knowledge of multiple market sectors, clients, and service areas. Selected candidate(s) will learn best-in-class BD and proposal practices across multiple sectors including IT and sustainable infrastructure.

The program will run for the duration of Summer 2021 and can be located out of our Pasadena, CA; Denver or Fort Collins, CO; or Washington DC Metro offices.

Your Role:

  • Assist BDS proposal managers and practitioners with administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, capturing notes, tracking action items, and communicating with proposal teams comprising BD and technical experts
  • Develop compliant MS Word templates in compliance with client specifications
  • Support development of oral presentations (primarily in MS PowerPoint)
  • Assist proposal teams with conceptualizing graphics and coordinating with graphic designers to enhance proposals
  • Ensure professional, consistent layout and format of all proposal sections
  • Assist with quality control activities for proposals, including high-level content reviews, proofreading, light editing, and desktop publishing
  • Support development of compliance matrices, proposal outlines, and content such as resumes and project descriptions
  • Interview technical experts to articulate scope relevancy and value
  • Coordinate inputs from multiple authors to develop cohesive marketing collateral (e.g., brochures, cutsheets, statements of qualifications)
  • Collect and combining internal reviewers' comments for evaluation by the proposal manager
  • Track solicitations/amendments to ensure changes to formal requirements are organized and applied to proposal documents and submittal checklists
  • Assist in editing proposal content to ensure narratives are compelling, compliant, consistent, and concise
  • Assist proposal managers in assembly/production of high-quality client deliverables
  • Respond to and coordinate data collection for company-wide metrics and qualifications
  • Assist proposal mangers collect and synthesize data from multiple sources
  • Document and share lessons learned to enhance company-wide best practices
  • Help create and/or update best practices documents for continuous improvement
  • Help the BDS team expand and improve the use of enterprise collaboration tools such as MS Teams by testing and providing feedback on new applications and plug-ins
  • Perform guided research on relevant topics


  • Must be currently enrolled in a matriculated university program. Students entering their final academic year or recently graduated can be considered.
  • Ideal candidates will be pursuing a degree in English/Rhetoric, Marketing/Communications, Business Administration, or similar program.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly MS Word
  • Ability to work remotely independently and as part of a dispersed team
  • A portfolio of project examples demonstrating persuasive writing is encouraged but not required
  • Positive attitude with a strong desire to collaborate and identify solutions
