634001 Psychiatric - ICU
Assesses and evaluates client needs, plans and provides
appropriate treatment, liaising with the interdisciplinary team,
leading and co-leading therapeutic groups, developing therapeutic
activities and writing group descriptions, and scheduling
therapeutic activities in collaboration with members of the
interdisciplinary team. Encourages self awareness, exploration and
reflection on feelings and relationships. Initiate spontaneous
exploration of personal issues. Enables clients to experiment with
new ways of thinking and behaving using recreational therapies.
Bachelor's degree in related field required. Masters Degree
Minimum 1 year experience as a Recreational Therapist or related
Current certification as one of the following required: California
Board of Recreation and Parks Certification: Recreation Therapist
Certified (RTC), National Council for Therapeutic Recreation
Certification: Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS),
Certified through Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB) as ATR-BC,
Board Certified/Registered in Drama Therapy (RDT, RDT-P, RDT-BC),
Registered as a Music Therapist or Board Certified (MT-BC) in Music
Therapy, Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) or
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Excellent artistic abilities, imagination and enthusiasm. Ability
to deal with difficult situations. Strong empathy skills with a
commitment to help people with different mental health diagnosis.
Excellent intrapersonal skills, communication skills and listening
skills. A strong knowledge and understanding of the theory and
practice of psychotherapy. Strong knowledge of the role of art
therapy in planning treatment of the client.
