NASA JPL is looking for a Space Satellite System Engineer to
support new mission concept formulations as a space
telecommunications subject matter expert, including concurrent
engineering, rapid mission formulation Team X. Responsibilities :
Will design high-level telecom subsystems to meet mission
requirements including total downlink data volume, radiometric
navigation, and command uplinks Will calculate telecom link margins
using a statistically derived design control table and manage and
track changes to reduce uncertainties Will perform analyses to
support trade studies such as telecom hardware selection (e.g.
radios, antenna types), frequency band selection, modulation and
coding selection, etc. Will generate subsystem, box, and
module-level requirements with full requirements traceability and
flow-down using requirements management systems such as DOORS. Will
negotiate interface agreements with other subsystem elements and
partner interfaces; document agreed requirements as interface
requirements and control documents Will manage requirement changes
through Engineering Change Requests (ECR) with Change Control Board
(CCB) concurrence and approvals Will evaluate compliance against
JPL Design Principles (DP) and Flight Project Practices (FPP) Will
assist in the preparation of verification and validation (V&V)
plans. Will support the design of RF & digital hardware, software,
and firmware for radio and digital processor developments. Will
plan and help execute ambient and environmental test campaigns for
prototype, engineering model, and flight model radio technologies.
Will track and document mass, power and data volume specifications
and budgets for telecom components and subsystem. Will support
Hardware Review/Certification Requirements (HRCR) and Certificate
of Flight Readiness (CoFR) reviews for flight deliveries. Will
support the product manager in managing risks, performance error
budgets, trade studies, design integration, and maintaining
delivery schedules. Required Skills : Bachelor---s degree in

or instruments that are used within complex space systems.
Experience within a multidisciplinary system engineering or test
team Demonstrated knowledge of processes that are used to
verify/validate the design requirements of systems. Experience in
testing of systems, including test planning, test procedure
development, and data analysis. Exceptional written and oral
