Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY: The primary responsibilities of this role are continuous training and development of drivers and safety sensitive employees. This position requires a full understanding of transportation in the flatbed, chemical, hazmat, general freight, and heavy haul industry, including but not limited to DOT and OSHA regulations. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop, implement, and instruct on new training programs for drivers and safety sensitive functions.
• Communicate and collaborate with organization leaders to identify training solutions that address negative performance trends.
• Conduct remedial driver safety training based upon individual driver performance, and counsel drivers on performance improvement measures (including load securement, load placement, safe driving techniques, trailer functions, and appropriate speeds).
• Actively work with operations for available drivers to conduct heavy haul progression course.
• OTR training with new, current and progressing drivers to evaluate performance
• Monitor critical event reporting for opportunities to counsel drivers on unsafe driving or hard breaking events.
• Conduct initial and yearly OSHA training (primarily shop and yard) in accordance with OSHA regulations, as well as training on DOT regulations and company procedures
• Collaborating with Safety Director to present quarterly safety training and company-wide quarterly safety meetings for employees. -
• Perform road tests with drivers as part of orientation when needed.
• Inspecting load securement, load documentation, measurements, and permits) as time permits.
• Other duties and responsibilities as directed by management. EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Working knowledge of DOT and OSHA Regulations
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organization and presentation skills required This position may:
    • Require travel to other terminals as needed for driver training, shop training, safety meetings etc.
    • Traveling with drivers for OTR training.
