Job Description POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION Ophthalmic
Technician 2 REPORTS TO Technician Supervisor DIRECT REPORTS None
SALARY RANGE $20.00 - $23.00 hourly FAMILY POSITION Clinical
Services PURPOSE Under the direction of ophthalmologist or
optometrist, assists with all aspects of patient care and performs
various basic to complex diagnostic tests and screening procedures.
Assists ophthalmologist with surgical procedures and post-operative
care / treatment. Prepares patient and patient room for exam.
Provides eye care to patients and instruction on contact lens use
and care. Acts as a resource to other technicians. KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES Key Accountability: Expected Outcome:
Responsibilities Measure visual acuity, instill ocular medications,
obtain ocular, medical, and family history, instruct patient
regarding medications and tests Proficient with slit lamp for
goldmine applanation and angle assessment Able to triage phone
calls independently/ pharmacy and urgent care patients accurately
Lensometry ,contact lens fitting and training Refraction Proficient
in Humphrey Visual Fields and OCT scans macula/nerve Understands
anatomy and pathology of the eye (dry eyes, and, cataracts,
glaucoma, retinal detachment, macular degeneration) and is able to
explain to the patient the condition and management/tx options.
Able to assist in scribing Leads in back office inventory and
additional back office responsibilities Leadership Problem

ROLE / PERSON SPECIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE: Minimum: Qualifications:
High School Diploma / GED required; Associate's degree is a plus 3
years of experience is highly desired Active Certified Ophthalmic
Assistant (COA) / Certified Ophthalmic Tech (COT) certification
required if less than three (3) years of experience; otherwise the
COA or COT certification is highly preferred Certified Ophthalmic
Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Tech (COT) strongly
preferred Experience working at an eye care facility as a
technician Experience working with Pediatric patients is highly
desired to be successful in the position KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS,
ABILITIES: Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong
interpersonal skills Ability to read and interpret basic business
correspondence Strong organizational skills and proven ability to
multitask Proactive work ethic and self-starter Intermediate
