A Metrology Technician II position just opened in Pasadena, CA
at the JPL/NASA facility. In this role, you will be responsible for
collecting data and performing general Inspection, Measurement, and
Test Equipment (IMTE) calibration work and assisting in data
analysis. You must have 6 years of similar experience; HS
Diploma/GED Required and be a US Citizen.
Location: Pasadena, CA 91109
Position: Metrology Technician II
Pay Rate: $38.79+/hr. (DOE)
Duration: 18 months or longer
Work schedule: 9/80 or 5/40

Collects data and performs general Inspection, Measurement, and
Test Equipment (IMTE) calibration work and assists in data
Uses thorough knowledge of moderately complex mechanical,
electro-mechanical, or dimensional test systems to calibrate JPL
Coordinate the calibration of IMTE traceable to internationally
recognized standards/certification institutions.
Performs moderately complex technical functions related to the
setup, test, monitoring, and/or repair of mechanical,
electro-mechanical, or dimensional IMTE.
Track and maintain accurate records of calibration equipment using
Calibration Management Software.
Track test equipment and perform inventory verification and
Works from documentation, including diagrams, notes, prints, or
layouts, which require minimal interpretation, to perform technical
Provides input to methods and development of test procedures.
High School with 6 years of related experience (or associates
degree with 1 year or related experience)
Experience with metrology or calibration theory and practice, with
mechanical calibration systems preferred
Hands-on experience with instrumentation and/or test equipment
Ability to lift 23 kgs of test devices and instrumentation
Microsoft Office Suite of Tools (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Excellent communication skills
Basic inventory tracking and management skills
Basic Mathematical skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a collective team
Understanding, or a strong willingness to learn, of one or more of
the following calibration quality systems: ANSI/NCSL Z540.1,
ANSI/NCSL Z540.3, and/or ISO17025
At a minimum, a 7-year background check, education verification,
employment verification, and drug screen will be conducted upon
hire. Your suitability for employment is contingent upon
successfully passing these required pre-employment screenings.
