our children and their families.Job Overview:Shriners Children's
Southern California is seeking a skilled Plant Facilities Manager
who will play a crucial role in the Medical Center's day-to-day,
short term and long term maintenance and safety compliance. The
Manager of Plant Facilities will: plan, organize, develop, and
direct the operations of the Maintenance Department at Shriners
Hospitals for Children Medical Center - Southern California.
Responsible for contract services including grounds, security and
EVS. Also responsible for maintenance services for on all building
floors of SC-SC and the grounds surrounding it. Knowledge of and
assure compliance with The Joint Commission environment of care,
emergency management and life safety standards. Must be able to
demonstrate knowledge, skills and abilities of the following:
Environment of Care: Hospital Safety, Security, Hazardous
Materials/Waste, Emergency Preparedness, Life Safety, Equipment
Safety, Utility Systems, Patient Rights, Patient Safety,
Performance Improvement, Risk Management, Confidentiality, Child
Abuse, Infection Control. Must have a working knowledge of building
and maintenance codes and regulations, JCAHO Standards and all
local/state and federal regulations required for health care
institutions.Must be able to read and interpret structural,
mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control drawings and
specifications. Salary Range: $91,000 - $137,700Compensation is
determined based on experience and department equity.This position
is full-time, exempt and benefits eligible.
Responsibilities:Determines staff qualifications and
competenceAssures each staff member undergoes an annual performance
evaluation based on their criteria-based job description within
specified timeframe.Assesses on an annual basis that staff are
competent in performing specific job responsibilities.Assures that
individuals who operate department equipment in the course of
carrying out their job responsibilities demonstrate competence in
safe and effective use of the equipment.Assures that all personnel
follow infection control policies. Maintains a sufficient number of
qualified and competent persons to provide care/servicesEstablishes
work schedules and assignments for staff.Participates in the
periodic review of the staffing pattern and uses labor standards to
assure proper number of employees.Utilizes appropriate disciplinary
measures and documents as needed. Ensures orientation and
continuing education of all staff in the departmentProvides new
employees with orientation to include: departmental policy and
procedures; individual job description; HIPPA and SHCIS; the
departments safety management programs, etc.Provides for ongoing
education and training designed to maintain and improve the
knowledge and skills of all departmental personnel. Oversees
departmental budgetParticipates in the development of operating and
capital budgets on an annual basis utilizing historical and
projected volume data to determine needs for each individual sub
account.Ensures that the annual cost of operations does not exceed
approved budget unless a major volume fluctuation or unforeseen
event occurs during budget year.Only submits necessary emergency
capital requests by anticipating and planning for capital equipment
needs. Assures all areas of responsibility demonstrate evidence of
cost containment effortsMeasures are taken to effectively manage
payroll minimizing overtime hours.Monitors supply usage and
implements cost reduction measures. Demonstrates Knowledge of
Building Equipment, Operation, and RepairEnsures that building
equipment is operated and maintained to provide safe, efficient
service.Participates in the installation, repair and operation of
building equipment.Continuously evaluates methods, procedures,
equipment and supplies in order to adequately and efficiently
maintain standards of the department. Demonstrates Knowledge of
Construction/Renovation Procedures Ensures that contractors and
in-house staff perform renovations and construction projects in
accordance with all local, state and federal regulations.
Demonstrates Skill in Planning, Negotiating and Implementing Energy
Management Programs and Service Contracts Evaluates implementation
of service agreements, natural gas purchase options, energy
efficiency programs and hospital energy management systems.
Establishes both unit based and personal goals on an annual
basisSets goals that are job related, measurable or observable, and
contribute to the hospitals strategic plan.Accomplishes majority of
goals (> 70%) and documents accomplishments/progress towards
