The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk.The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.As an independent risk management function, the Operational Risk Group works with teams across Corporate Risk, with front-line partners in the businesses and risk-generating functions, and with Wells Fargo Audit Services. Together, as three lines of defense, we are furthering company-wide consistency in operational risk management practices and simplifying risk management processes - enabling us to focus on what's most important: protecting and serving our customers to help them succeed financially.Operational Risk Transformation Office (ORTO) is seeking a strategic, critical thinker who will support the goals and mission of ORTO. Will be responsible for the execution of critical operational risk initiatives including core transformation efforts aligning to corporate goals and regulatory feedback, including consent orders. This individual will support cross functional strategies and execute a variety of programs, services and initiatives that are large in scope and complexity.This candidate will develop, implement and monitor risk-based programs to identify, assess and mitigate any operational risk that arises from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems or external events, while maintaining a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency. Working with complex business units and providing operational risk expertise and consulting for projects and initiatives with high risk is part of the profile & will require extensive collaboration and priority management skills.This candidate will evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems and internal controls; analyze business and/or system changes to determine impact, identify and assess operational risk issues and assign risk ratings consistent with established policy standards. S/he will consult with business to develop corrective action plans and effectively manages change. May provide guidance to less experienced consultants.The ideal candidate is capable of initiating action and managing change in a fast paced environment under regulatory scrutiny and heightened expectations.Specific responsibilities include:

  • Lead stakeholders to a common goal with clear concise direction while identifying critical gaps and solutions to move the enterprise toward the target state
  • Facilitate weekly status meetings and addresses questions or concerns, including scheduling subsequent follow-up meetings with key partners
  • Works in partnership with the Operational Risk Group teams to constructively challenge existing fundamentals/assumptions and develops alternative approaches/solutions specific to the operational risk program priorities and reporting mechanisms
  • Provides consultation and oversight to proactively identify emerging risk, areas of resistance and potential barriers to shifting the culture
  • Cultivate and build partnerships with key stakeholders with superior influence and communication skills and serve as credible trusted advisor
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, professionally, timely to engage and team members/stakeholders in a fast-paced, evolving organization
  • Ability to assess and articulate issues, risks and proposed solutions to all levels of the organization
  • Drives changes to enterprise-wide implementations of major policy and relevant compliance programs across major business divisions
  • Develop and execute strategies to enhance the adoption and align stakeholders the target state
  • Solutions complex issues using partnerships and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrates strong relationship building skills and is strategically focused

    Required Qualifications
    • 6+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 6+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

        Other Desired Qualifications
        • A strong track record and business knowledge in financial services, preferably in direct regulatory operational risk management roles.
        • Management reporting / presentation skills including the use of PowerPoint, Excel, and Access and MS Project.
        • Experience dealing with regulators and ability to remediate efforts.
        • Experience in transformation and/or remediation of large complex operational risk functions.
        • Demonstrated experience with interpreting and building processes and output to comply with complex regulatory requirements.
        • A master at solving problems and driving business results.
        • Experience working horizontally across the organization and participating in enterprise-wide implementations of major policy and relevant compliance programs across major business divisions.
        • Effective leadership ability to drive successful execution of strategic plans; ability to plan, prioritize and set goals. Must possess a sense of urgency exceeding the objectives of the role.
        • Execution oriented, professional demeanor, self-starter behavior and able to recognize opportunities for improvement in the business and to act on those opportunities.
        • An impeccable reputation for integrity, accuracy, consistency, big picture orientation and business acumen.
        • Ability to run to with ad-hoc assignments, as/when needed.
        • Comfort level with change in strategy at short notice, ambiguity and fast paced change.

          Job Expectations
          • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
